Fa la la la Follow Friday...

http://parajunkee.com/

Good morning and the merriest of Christmases to you, my wonderous (wounderous?) zombie horde. I hope you are out there singing zombie carols to make the season bright. Deck the Halls with Parts of Wally and all that. It brings a tear to my eye.

This is a light Follow Friday, but I hope you stay a moment and say hello. It is nice to have guests. Promise not to bite.

The question of the week:

What are you doing for this wondrous holiday?

I myself will be playing with my new copy of Zombie Felties and thinking up new designs for my Christmas tree. Next year, I want a zombie themed one. It's only right, after all.

Merry Christmas!

Awesome and freaky cupcakes...

Ok, so even zombie girls bake. I found this amazing book and had to share it with the horde.

Let's say you want a brain theme for your next zombie party. The perfect cupcake is there! Broken glass theme? Yep. You got it. Zombie fingers reaching from the grave, radioactive waste, you name it, its there. My ultimate freaky cupcake favorite is the heart. Not exactly hearts and flowers either folks.

Check it out! It's frightfully good fun.

Fa la la la Follow Friday...

http://parajunkee.com/

Good morning Zombie Horde. I hope this wonderful Friday finds you chipper with all of your parts still intact and  festive holiday grins on your faces. Now remember, no biting the guests. It's rude. We get lonely here, so please leave a comment and I promise no biting. I see you over there! Yes, you. No drooling. And put your eyeball back in. That's just disgusting. This is a family friendly zone here. You want that kind of zombie stuff, you know where to go. I'm serious. Jeez. Sorry. Now, where were we...

Oh yeah. Leave me comments and follower love. The question of the week is:

Did your college years help with the job you have now.

My answer. Zombie poodles don't really take into account that you'd like a future in higher education or anything like that. They just sort of chomp and run. I'm just happy I still have the use of most of my brain, and my eyeballs are still where they belong. It's not easy to look this good. Let me tell you.

Follow Friday for the Zombie Horde!

http://parajunkee.com/
Greetings zombie followers. It is time for Follow Friday. This week brings us to a new blog Another Book Junkie. http://anotherbookjunkie.blogspot.com/  Stop by and give Amanda a follow. No biting please.

The question of the week is:

Do you have an author you think is great that is under appreciated?
I would love to hear what you think! Personally, I think Carrie Ryan is amazing with her Forest of Hands and Teeth. It should be a movie. Seriously. The woman can write about crunching zombie fingers better than anyone I know.

If you are visiting, stop for a moment and leave a comment. Share the love and be a follower.

Monster High

First, let me just tell you how much I liked Monster High. It was great. I listened to it on audio and that my zombie friends, was cool. Frankie Stein is my favorite character. She has style, mint green skin and gets to charge herself like a giant cell phone. Awesome. Today, I discovered that there is a website devoted entirely to the series. Yes, the first book is only the beginning. They have dolls too. Mattel has done a fab job of making some cute monster girl dolls. I think I want one. Okay. Yeah, I totally do. You can sort of see why by the photo of Frankie above.

What I Liked:
The story of Frankie Stein trying to fit in with her lovely mint green skin really hit home for me. Being a zombie girl isn't easy you know. The scene at the dance was really what sealed it for me. Wow. Didn't see that one coming.

What I Didn't:
Only that it ended and I have to wait for the second book.

Overall impressions:
Uber cool and I want to add it to my bookshelves one of these days. I checked it out using my library's ebranch system.

Zombie cupcake takes over the world.

Okay. I know. It's the dumbest post you've seen lately. True. I just liked the cupcake. He's kind of cute in a blood dripping from his little pink frosted mouth kind of way. Admit it. You like him too.

Monster books in my mailbox.

Members of the horde, lend me your ears. Keep them on your head please. I totally saw that!

Here are two awesome and cool vampire books to check out.

Bloodthirsty made me laugh so I had to buy it. Fake vampire love. Awww!

IDracula is doubly cool because if you have an IPad or an iPhone, there is an app in the app store. It's free, so check it out.

Happy reading!

Holiday Reading Challenge update.

http://bookwormygirl.blogspot.com/

If you would like to join in on the Holiday Reading Challenge, pop over to the link above and sign up.

Hello again zombie horde. I have found the perfect holiday book for your ghoulish celebrations. All of your favorite Christmas carols altered a bit for some holiday zombie fun.

Favorite songs:

Deck the Halls with Parts of Wally
Snacking Around the Christmas Tree
Good King Wenceslas Tastes Great
The Zombie Christmas Song
Rudolph the Zombie Reindeer

Oh my gosh, there are so many. I hocked my coffee money for this one, kiddies. A total wonder of holiday joy and merriment.

A quote from We Three Spleens: (sung to the tune of We Three Kings")

"We three spleens, you know where we are:
Two in the kitchen and one in the car.
We are still eating, people are fleeing.
Let's eat the one in the car.

O-oooh, spleens of wonder, they taste right.
We could eat spleens all day and night.
We're still eating, people screaming.
Let's eat until first light."

This book by Michael P. Spradlin is a classic holiday romp through zombiedom. My hero, Christopher Moore provides the introduction. Illustrations are by Jeff Weigel.

Holiday Reading Challenge update.

http://bookwormygirl.blogspot.com/

Greetings zombie horde. I have completed my first read for the Holiday reading challenge. The Zombie Night Before Christmas.

What I Liked:  I loved the zombiefied rendition of a great holiday classic. It is The Night Before Christmas, complete with the walking dead and Santa.

What I Didn't: Okay, so it was a little gory. The dark side of zombiedom can be though.

Overall thoughts: It was a great zombie Christmas story, sometimes a little gory. These zombies aren't as particular about biting peeps as I am. Jeez. Biting Santa. No manners at all.

The Gothic Reading Challenge

http://gothicreadingchallenge.blogspot.com/

Good evening zombie horde. I have brought you the perfect reading challenge. Gothic books. What could possibly be better? Nothing! Well, maybe some zombie Christmas carols, but I digress.

This challenge takes place from January 1st- December 31st, 2011. That means that we have something wonderful to look forward to next year! So no staying out late chasing New Years revelers, we must start reading! If it's Gothic it works. Just head over to the link above and list your blog and make a comment. Let the host know about what cool Gothic titles you come up with and your reading progress. Remember, Gothic. No Dr. Seuss or Goodnight Moon. We are going for moody desperation here. We're zombies, people. We know a little about desperation. Do me proud and let me know what titles you pick.

I am going to try for at least 10. Happy, (wait, I mean Moody) reading!

Zombies 12 months a year!

So I was at the store today trying to restrain myself from munching down on badly behaving holiday shoppers, when I saw these two calendars.

Both are a little gory to be sure, but then again the dark side of zombiedom can be a little messy. They are at least smirk worthy. If any of you have seen other fun zombie artifacts, I would love to hear it!

Good night for now. May you eat and not get eaten. Happy Thanksgiving.

Our first holiday zombie book reading challenge!

Good morning zombie horde. Today we focus on the joys of the season and a new reading challenge. Here are my first two picks. They are positively ghoulish with their holiday joyfulness, but totally in keeping with our theme here. On more than one occasion, I ended up laughing so hard at one of the Christmas carols, I thought my nose was going to fall right off. And such a lovely nose, so I tried to contain my giggles. I will update with reviews and additional readings, but pick these up at your local bookstore and smile. Happy holidays, wonderful zombie followers. Check out the link if you want to participate in the challenge. The more the merrier. Stop in and leave a comment. Better yet, if you are new to the horde, drop me a follow. I will return the favor. (And I even promise not to bite or anything.)

Waiting for The Dark and Hollow Places

In a world where the Mudo rule, and humans have to be careful that they don't step too close to the fences or stand unguarded by the oceans, Carrie Ryan brings us a new book, The Dark and Hollow Places. I for one am waiting with bated breath.  (Well, if I had to breathe, honestly.)

The descriptive writing that Ryan uses to bring us into the story had my hair standing on end even before that poodle bit me. The thing that sits in my mind the most is the sound of the fingers reaching through chain link fence trying desperately to reach the humans inside. Can't blame them really, but I digress. I remember going to bed and dreaming about it, but as soon as I woke up, I wanted to go back there. In Zombies vs. Unicorns I was so happy that Ryan appeared with Team Zombie to bring us another adventure.

If you haven't read these great books, give it a try. What a great movie they would make!

Zombies vs. Unicorns

The eternal question: Zombies vs. Unicorns. Which side is better?

If you haven't read Zombies vs. Unicorns then you are totally missing out. You can guess which side I'm on. To be fair, the unicorns have some pretty good stories in there too, but since I am a zombie, well...The snarky comments made by Holly Black and Justine Larbalestier at the introduction to each story are worth reading just on their own.

My favorite unicorn story has to be by Diana Peterfreund. I love anything she writes. Her The Care and Keeping of Your Baby Killer Unicorn kept me on the edge of my seat. Princess Prettypants by Meg Cabot was another. My least favorite was A Thousand Flowers  by Margo Lanagan. I kind of agree with Justine that this story is just plain gross. I would skip it if I were you.

The coolest zombie story had to be Children of the Revolution by Maureen Johnson. I loved the little zombie kids. Very original. Carrie Ryan doesn't dissapoint either with Bougainvillea. A nice revisit to the land of the Mudo.

That's all I'm going to say. If I keep going, I will spoil what surprises the authors have in store for you. Please comment and let me know what you think. Zombies vs. Unicorns is not for the faint of heart, and it pretty much isn't for kids, but for the rest of us, happy reading.

In my mailbox #1

This week we will do our first installment of In My Mailbox.

I checked out a copy of I Kissed a Zombie and I Liked It from the library and it was a riot.

Popular girl gets the zombie. Sort of.

This book was cute, original and I am so not giving the plot away peeps. You will have to read it yourself to find out the dirt. (grave dirt that is) So get yourself a copy and check it out.

For those of you new to In My Mailbox, check out the link below and visit the Story Siren. She rocks. List your blog and what you got to read this week. Check out some other blogs. It's fun.

Feed your zombie!

This movie is the best zombie movie ever!

When I first heard about this movie, I honestly thought it was about a dog. Fido. Right? It sounds like a dog. It totally wasn't. It was like Leave it to Beaver with zombies. I grinned through the whole movie.

Plants vs. Zombies, the best game ever!

If you haven't yet played this game, you totally need to. The zombies just keep coming. They aren't as cute as me, but they have cool hats. Traffic cones. Who would have thought?

Zombies rule.

Okay, so now that I totally am a zombie, I can say this. In the battle between zombies and the other undead, we are the coolest. Check out my review for Zombies vs. Unicorns on the sidebar. It totally rocks. Guess which side I'm on!

Amanda Feral Rocks!

Check out the Mary Henry website!

One of my favorite snark masters!

This picture is from Mark Henry's Goodreads profile. He is one of the coolest, snarkiest zombie loving guys I know. He can get a little adult for you kiddos out there, but for all you grown up types, go out today and get yourself some of his books. He is currently working on some YA and I can't wait to see what he comes up with next!

Welcome to my blog.

Zombie poodles are the devil. He looked so cute when he came up and started nuzzling my leg. Even cuter when he licked my hand when I reached down to pet him. Damned if he didn't bite the crap out of me and start chomping.

Let's just say I haven't been the same since. Most people think that zombies walk around all the time screaming about brains and moaning. I only do that at dinner time. The rest of the time when I am not at work contemplating munching down on some unsuspecting customer who just gave me a hard time, I am blogging about books. I look normal. Act normal. So far nothing is falling off, but I moisturize like crazy.

So if you want to hang out with me while I review all the cool zombie stuff I find, great. Promise I won't try to take a bite.
