Meet the Radleys
Peter, Helen and their teenage children, Clara and Rowan, live in an English town. They are an everyday family, averagely dysfunctional, averagely content. But as their children have yet to find out, the Radleys have a devastating secret
From one of Britain’s finest young novelists comes a razor-sharp unpicking of adulthood and family life. In this moving, thrilling and extraordinary portrait of one unusual family, The Radleys asks what we grow into when we grow up, and explores what we gain – and lose – when we deny our appetites.(Goodreads)
What I liked:
This book was a real page turner. I loved the characters, each with their own point of view reflected. This is a great book for teens and adults. My favorite part was when the bully gets his due. When you read it, trust me. You will know. Great job Matt Haig. You are now officially an author I will be paying attention to. (In a good way!)
What I didn't:
It ended. You know those books that make you sigh when you finish out of sheer sadness because you have reached the last page? Yes, zombie horde, this is one of those books. Get it today. It will warm your little zombie heart.

The Stylish Blogger Award
Hello zombie horde. It seems we have been given a very awesome award by BookGirl at My Book Addiction. Thanks for thinking of us in all of our zombie splendor!
The rules:
I have to list 7 things about myself and pass the love onto 15 other blogs. Ok. Very cool. I tend to look at a lot of books, food (cupcakes, people!) and some handwork. Have to keep me busy. An active mind is a good thing. When it starts to go, then we have bad things happen. Like screaming "brainssssss" and chomping on the nearest mailman or something.
Ok. Here are my seven things...
1. I still like poodles. Even that fuzzy monstrosity that bit me.
2. Moisturizer is my friend. Honestly, did you think a zombie girl can look this good on her own?
3. The Zombie Abstainer's Handbook should be mandatory for all thinking zombies. Yes, we sing carols about dismemberment, but it just gets so messy. Have some pride. Go buy hamburger.
4. Zombies vs. Unicorns has to be one of my favorite books ever.
5. The Walking Dead is the best television series on the planet. No question.
6. Plants vs. Zombies is my favorite IPad game.
7. Zombie movies....Ok. Fido is the one I would pick as my favorite. I'm not into the whole control collar thing, but the whole 50's zombie nation thing rocked.
Okay...now for some awesome blogs. They are all over the place, peeps. Not many are even zombified, Try not to fall off your couches. I read real stuff too.

I Am Legend (Horror and Fantasy Challenge, Vampire Challenge)
This book covers tons of challenges!
One of the most influential vampire novels of the 20th century, I Am Legend regularly appears on the "10 Best" lists of numerous critical studies of the horror genre. As Richard Matheson's third novel, it was first marketed as science fiction (for although written in 1954, the story takes place in a future 1976). A terrible plague has decimated the world, and those who were unfortunate enough to survive have been transformed into blood-thirsty creatures of the night. Except, that is, for Robert Neville. He alone appears to be immune to this disease, but the grim irony is that now he is the outsider. He is the legendary monster who must be destroyed because he is different from everyone else. Employing a stark, almost documentary style, Richard Matheson was one of the first writers to convince us that the undead can lurk in a local supermarket freezer as well as a remote Gothic castle. His influence on a generation of bestselling authors--including Stephen King and Dean Koontz--who first read him in their youth is, well, legendary. (Goodreads)
This book can qualify for both challenges. I listened to it on audio and loved it.
What I Liked:Everything. The dystopian flavor of this tale had me at the very beginning. It is almost zombie like in the way the vampires try to rush his house. Frankly, it left a tear in my eye.
What I Didn't:
The stories that followed were not as good as expected. Especially the carnival tale with the ping pong balls. Thumbs down on that one.
Overall:
This is a classic vampire story that actually didn't resemble the movie at all. I was shocked! (Not really.) It is ripe for the trend of dystopian works that are popular now, and I think it will surge in popularity.

Zombie Challenge!
http://booksoulmates.blogspot.com/
Good morning zombie horde! Yes, I am back from my brief hiatus. Had some minor zombie chick upkeep to deal with. Nothing too horrible. Now I am back and ready to rock this blog! We will be doing the Zombie Challenge, where all good zombies go mad trying to read even more zombie books. But we can do it! Yes we can. It is inspiring to read about all that running and screaming. Brings a tear to my eye. Now, this is a non chomp zone for all of you guests just passing through. No biting is my rule. Off the blog, well, lets just say there are no promises. The corn flakes just aren't cutting it this morning if you know what I mean. So happy reading! If you want to participate yourself, just pop over to the link and say hey to our amazing hosts!
Entry #1...
Allison Hewitt and her five colleagues at the Brooks and Peabody Bookstore are trapped together when the zombie outbreak hits. Allison reaches out for help through her blog, writing on her laptop and utilizing the military's emergency wireless network (SNET). It may also be her only chance to reach her mother. But as the reality of their situation sinks in, Allison’s blog becomes a harrowing account of her edge-of-the-seat adventures (with some witty sarcasm thrown in) as she and her companions fight their way through ravenous zombies and sometimes even more dangerous humans. (courtesy of Goodreads)
I spotted this one on the new release cart yesterday while I was doing my best zom girl diligence and knew it had to be mine. So I bought it! Victory! So far there is much running and screaming. Hurray!
More amazing zombie reads will be coming your way.
