The Stage Frights: Horror Rock Reigns

The Stage Frights are Houston’s hottest Horror rock and roll band. The brain child of Larry Rainwater (Ex-VoTo, Kommunity FK, Ardour of Angels and the Nobody’s) They mash up the Dead Boys, New York Dolls, the Misfits, Ramones and Garage Rock into a fast swirl of dark rock frenzy! With their songs like My Dead Girlfriend’s back we learn just how bad the consequences of standing up your best girl at the prom can be when she returns as a zombie! But it’s not all Si-Fi mayhem here as songs like Never Stop and I’m Feeling Alright the rock is hard and heavy. Never short on Humor and never short on Rock. The Stage Frights will have you rocking with a smile on your face even if they are signing about someone being stabbed sixteen times in the back!

The Stage Frights are Jonny Splat on Vocals, Spleen Bass (Ex-VoTo, Ardour of Angels, Houstons Ms Spooky 2007), Barry Calnan Drums (Tau Ceti), Larry “Two Fingers” Rainwater (Ex-VoTo, Kommunity FK, Ardour of Angels and the Nobody’s) formed in 2010 in Houston Texas the Stages Frights are now booking shows. Reverbnation

1. How did you guys meet?

Spleen: Larry, Johnny and I have known each other for years - we got to know each other from our local goth club. Believe it or not, we met Barry through an ad we placed on Craigslist - best thing we've ever found on there!

2. How do you come up with the themes to your songs?

Larry: For most songs, Spleen and I throw around ideas together. Sometimes we come up with them individually
Spleen: It usually goes like this "What would be a fun thing to write about?" " Severe head trauma" "Ok, lets do it"

3. What bands are the greatest influence over your style of music?

Larry: A lot of late 70's punk and rock bands, 80's deathrock and psychobilly... like Dead Boys, Undertones, New York Dolls, Deadbolt. The Meteors, Misfits, Ted Nugent, Hazel Atkins, The Ramones, Iggy and The Stooges

4. Are you going to have a full length album soon? Where can people hear your music?

Spleen: We're recording right now, so yes! Till then you can hear us at www.thestagefrights.com and through our Facebook page

5. I've noticed a horror theme going on with your work, what are some of the books and movies that have influenced your music?

Larry:  The usuals, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Frankenstein, Night of the Living Dead, Dracula... etc. and some newer stuff - Shaun of the Dead, Zombieland

Spleen: Nosferatu, Metropolis, The Phantom of the Opera, La Belle et la Bete

6. Are you playing anywhere in the near future? Where can fans find your tour dates?

Spleen: Our next show is in Houston, September 24th at Underworld's "Black is the New Black" Masquerade Ball, with a fashion show from Azrael's Accomplice Designs

7. Do you think there is some punk influences in your sound?

Larry: Yes, very much so. We like that "edge" to it

8. What is one thing you want people to get from your music?

Larry: We want them to have a really good time listening to rock and roll for a change
Spleen: This is drinkin' and dancin' music!

9. Do you write the songs as a group? Can you tell us a little about the band members?

Larry: It's mainly Spleen and I's collaborations as far as the lyrics, melody and chord progressions - then Barry works his magic for the final drum arrangement. Johnny interprets the lyrics with his own distinct growl. So in the end it's a group effort. Spleen has her own band, Ardour of Angels, and also plays keyboards in Ex-Voto. In The Stage Frights she's our bass player. Barry was a member of Canadian rock group,Tau Ceti, and has toured with countless other bands. This is Johnny's first gig as a singer, but has played drums before with other groups. I am the singer and bass player of Ex-Voto. Over the years I played bass for Kommunity FK and Ardour of Angels, but this is my first attempt at the guitar. I've been playing for a whole year now

10. What are your plans for the future?

Larry: We want to finish up our album, release it and keep playing local shows, building our fan base for now.
Spleen: Rockin'!
